Thermoforming

Plastic blisters, clamshells, and trays are usually made by the process of vacuum forming. In this process, the thermoplastic sheet or roll is heated to a formable state and then formed over or into an aluminum mold, made with multiple forms. The cooled sheet of multiples is taken from the mold and is then cut and/or trimmed into individual units. Several modifications of this technique are employed to assist making deep draws or more intricate designs.
